那位坐著的,…顯出來的樣子好像綠寶石。
And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone... (Revelation 4:3)
牆是用碧玉造的,…
... its wall was jasper... (Revelation 21:18)
God is jasper and we are being made into a jasper wall. This is a picture in the book of Revelation. This picture is very significant. To me it means 4 things:
1. Transformation - The material used for the wall of the New Jerusalem is jasper, an organically transformed material. We should not use clay or bricks to build the wall. Clay is our fallen humanity. Bricks are our self efforts. We have to let God, who is a jasper stone, come into us to make us jasper stones.
2. Building - The transformed stones have to be built together to form a wall. Transformation is for building. We have to be built up together with other jasper stones.
3. Protection - This wall is our protection. The more we have the reality of the wall in the church life, the more we are protected.
4. Expression - This wall expresses God. (Revelation 21:11)
Based on the above, let me raise 4 questions:
a. Are we being transformed on a consistent basis?
b. With whom you are being built up in the church life?
c. Are you being protected and limited by the wall of New Jerusalem?
d. Does your church life express God, or something else?
